A Time for Choosing

Dear Supporter,

As mid-term elections approach this November, I encourage you to contemplate the weight that your vote bears on the direction of our country. As Americans like you and me strive to uphold Constitutional values, some of our fellow citizens are electing self-described "Democratic" Socialists to positions of power.Despite the seemingly insurmountable divide in our nation today, America has overcome similar challenges in the past. With our faith, dedication to truth, and our votes, we will overcome once more.

Back in 1964, I remember campaigning with my mother and going door-to-door for Barry Goldwater. I was only three years old. We went through our neighborhood knocking on doors, encouraging neighbors to vote for Goldwater for president.

Ronald Reagan delivered the timeless speech, "A Time for Choosing," in support of Goldwater on October 27, 1964. I think everyone should listen to Reagan’s speech to remind us of what we are fighting and still standing for in this current cultural battle.  As then, we are continuing to fight for the soul of our nation and the values upon which our nation was established 250 years ago.

I note that Ronald Reagan’s speech is timeless because, not only were the values he expressed in his support of Berry Goldwater timeless, but that 18 years later, Reagan became president of the United States and lead our nation to win the Cold War and the greatest economic revival in our nation's history. Even though Berry Goldwater lost to Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964, Reagan went on to achieve those objectives he described in his “Time for Choosing” speech.

Our nation is now confronting an almost identical choice.  Under President Trump, we are waging the exact same battle.  President Reagan’s speech should encourage and inspire us as we fight for the soul of our nation and seek to preserve the blessings of liberty for our progeny.

Please do listen to Ronald Reagan’s “A Time for Choosing” speech and circulate as you see appropriate.  It takes on 20 minutes and it is time well spent.
