The Biden administration's failures, combined with the Democratic Party's radical shift, attacks on the Supreme Court, and efforts to discredit former President Trump, are influencing the political landscape leading up to the 2024 election.
During the past three and one-half years, America has endured the failed presidency of Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. In July, we witnessed a presidential debate in which President Biden performed so poorly and demonstrated such cognitive decline that the entire Nation and the Democrat Party were forced to confront the fact that he is unfit to serve a second term as President.
Biden’s Presidency: A Repeat of 1968’s Downfall?
During Biden’s three and one-half years tenure as President, inflation increased from less than one and one-half percent to more than nine percent. America’s esteem in the world plummeted with the disastrous withdraw from Afghanistan. The now iconic image of a C-17 evacuating the Karzai airport with hordes of Afghans trying to climb onto the plane is reminiscent of the Huey helicopters evacuating American personnel from the roof of the American embassy in Saigon. Because of how President Biden ordered Afghanistan to be evacuated, thirteen American military were killed and American military equipment was left behind for the Taliban terrorists.
In what can only be an intentional strategy, American’s southern border is entirely open with more than ten million illegal and unvetted migrants flooding the Nation. Many of these illegal migrants are criminals, terrorists, drug smugglers, and cartels running sex trafficking and fentanyl smuggling operations. These illegal migrants are consuming a massive share of taxpayer funded public resources for housing, healthcare, and school for their children.
Economic and Foreign Policy Failures Under the Biden-Harris Administration
American weakness under President Biden’s and the Biden-Harris Administration’s willful incompetence and intentionally malevolent policies invited our adversaries in China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea to increase their aggression. This led to a European war when Russia, under Putin, invaded Ukraine. And, in turn, this led to the United States providing Ukraine $175 billion in funds and military aid. In the Middle East, Hamas (supported by Iran) attacked Israel on October 7, 2023. China is on the verge of attacking Taiwan.
Not unlike President Johnson in 1968, Biden’s failure in office meant the Democrat Party faced a likely loss of the Presidency, would lose control of the Senate (which the Democrats hold by one seat), and suffer further loss of seats in the House of Representatives.
Despite the almost 16 million primary voters who supported President Biden in the Democrat Primary, the Democrat leadership pressured Biden to withdraw as a candidate for reelection. Vice President Kamala Harris is now the Democrat Party’s nominee, and she has chosen the extreme left governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, to be her vice-presidential running mate. The Democrat National Convention occurred on August 19-August 22 in Chicago, where Harris formally accepted her nomination as the Democrat party’s 2024 presidential nominee.
Voting in the General Election begins less than a month later in early September when mail-in voting for the November Presidential Election begins.
The Battle for Power: Trump, Harris, and the Future of the Democratic Party
On July 13, in Butler County, Pennsylvania, a twenty-year-old-man attempted to assassinate former President Trump at a rally. The would-be assassin’s bullet struck Trump in the ear. Had he not turned his head a moment before the assassin pulled the trigger, former President Trump would have been assassinated on national television. However, he emerged from the assassination attempt triumphant. President Trump, similar to President Reagan, said
“It was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening.” “I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead... Many people are saying it’s by God I’m still here.”
Three days after the attempted assassination of President Trump, the Republican Party met in Milwaukee at their national convention and formally nominated Trump to be the Republican nominee for President and selected Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as vice-presidential nominee.
A week later, President Biden announced he would withdraw from the presidential election and endorsed Kamala Harris. The Democrat Party leadership has since coalesced around Kamala Harris, who is the most radical left Marxist, globalist candidate for President of the United States ever, and her running mate Tim Walz, a radical left progressive.
Confronted with a failed presidency, a mentally failing President Biden, and policies most of the Nation opposes – inflation, open border, a failed foreign policy – the Democrat Party’s strategy for retaining power has been to mount a direct and personal attack upon President Trump. The Biden Administration enrolled the Justice Department, along with the New York Attorney General, Letitia James, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fanni Willis, to bring a series of civil and criminal cases against President Trump. These cases were brought with the stated goal of forcing former President Trump to abandon his campaign for President or to bankrupt him personally and put him in prison. Additionally, the Democrat Secretaries of State in Colorado and Maine removed President Trump’s name from those State ballots.
All these “lawfare” challenges failed but only after several decisions of the United States Supreme Court in Trump v. United States, 603 U.S. , 144 S.Ct. 2312 (2024), Trump v. Anderson, 601 U.S. 100 (2024), and Fisher v. United States, 603 U.S., 144 S. CT. 2176 (2024).
We have been blessed with one of the best Supreme Courts in our Nation’s history. The current Roberts’s Court, with Justices Thomas, Alito, Kavanaugh, Gorsuch and Barrett, has stood as a bulwark against Progressive Left extremism and faithfully applied the Constitution. The Supreme Court and the conservative members of the Court are under attack by the Progressive Left.
Supreme Court Under Siege: Biden’s Radical Constitutional Proposals
On February 29, 2020, Democrat Senator and Senate Majority Leader, Chuck Schumer, stood on the steps of the Supreme Court and declared, “I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and will pay the price.” Schumer declared that Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh “won’t know what hit” them if they voted to overturn Roe v. Wade. Chief Justice Roberts rebuked Senator Schumer for his threats against members of the Supreme Court.
On June 8, 2023, Nicholas Roske, a 26-year-old-man from California, traveled to Washington, DC planning to assassinate Justice Kavanaugh at the Justice’s home. Roske said he also wanted to kill two other conservative Supreme Court Justices. Roske told police he was upset about the leaked Dobbs v. Jackson draft opinion that would overrule Roe v. Wade. He wrote, “I’m [sic] gonna stop Roe v. Wade from being overturned.”
The left has mounted a meritless public attack on Justice Alito and Thomas alleging “ethics” violations. The charges are a baseless slander made in an attempt to discredit these two justices. The Democrat Party has leveraged the false narrative and the attack on the Court and members of the Court to propose a constitutional amendment and legislation that would eliminate the Supreme Court’s independence as a coequal branch of the federal government. This month, President Biden proposed amending the Constitution to limit the terms of Supreme Court justices and subjecting the justices to oversight under an “ethics code” written by Congress. This proposal is a flagrant violation of the Separation of Powers. Biden’s proposal to “reform” the Supreme Court is even more extreme than Franklin Roosevelt’s attempt to pack the Court, what FDR called the Judicial Procedures Reform Bill of 1937.
What President Biden proposed will not happen. The important point, however, is not whether Biden’s extreme attempt to weaken the Supreme Court would pass with a vote of two-thirds of the Senators and be ratified by three-fourths of the States. Rather, the point is that the extreme left had sufficient influence to propose this radical plan, and Biden and the Democrat Party embraced and promoted this plan. This demonstrates three points.
First, that the Democrat Party is under the thrall and control of the progressive Marxist left even to the point that the President would advance. Second, the Progressive Left and the current Democrat Party leadership have utter disregard for the fundamental principles upon which our Republic is established. And third, this attack upon the Constitution, upon the Supreme Court, and upon those members of the Court who defend and uphold the Constitution demonstrates the need for an informed and vigorous defense of the Constitution and the Rule of Law.
